Mr RICk BOND - Vascular Surgeon

Rick Bond is specialist vascular surgeon and associate Professor at UWA. He is the current state Director for Vascular surgery in West Australia and the is the Head of Vascular Surgery at both Fiona Stanley and Fremantle hospitals and examiner for the Royal Australian College of surgeons (RACS). Privately, he consults in East Fremantle, Rockingham, and Busselton and operates at St John of God Murdoch, and Waikiki Private Hospital, Rockingham. He also performs minor procedures in his rooms in East Fremantle.

Rick is a dual trained British and Australian vascular and general surgeon with over 30 years of medical experience. He started his training at the Royal Free Hospital in London and completed his consultant training in England in 2004. During this time he attained a PhD from Oxford University for research into the outcomes of carotid surgery. In 2005 he immigrated to Australia and became a citizen. He took the Australian surgical exams and has become a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as well as retaining his membership of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain.

Rick specialises in all areas of vascular disease. He is experienced with both open surgical techniques and endovascular, minimally invasive therapies. He believes in the importance of maintaining good open surgical skills in addition to embracing and advancing endovascular techniques. His broad experience allows him and his team to provide unbiased advice and excellent treatment tailored to each individual patient.

Anwar Choudhary is a specialist vascular and endovascular surgeon in Western Australia and holds a consultant position at Fiona Stanley Hospital and Fremantle Hospital. Privately he operates at Mount Hospital, Hollywood Private Hospital, and St John of God Subiaco Hospital. Anwar is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery.  His endovascular training has been further recognised in Australasia by CCRTPET (Conjoint committee for recognition of training in peripheral endovascular therapy) in the fields of Fenestrated and branched aortic endografting as well as Peripheral endovascular therapy.

Anwar grew up in New Zealand and completed his undergraduate medical training through Otago University. He completed vascular surgery specialist training through several high-volume tertiary centres in Australasia (Perth, Sydney, Auckland, and Wellington) under the guidance of many accomplished and experienced vascular surgeons. After vascular training and post training fellowship, Anwar then returned to Perth to take up his current consultant position.

Anwar is proficient and experienced in treatment of all vascular surgery conditions including aortic aneurysms (abdominal, thoracic, and thoracoabdominal), arterial aneurysms, lower limb arterial disease, carotid artery disease, thoracic outlet syndrome (venous, arterial, and neurogenic), diabetic foot ulcers, dialysis access (AV fistula creation and maintenance), TAVI access, central venous access, and varicose veins.

Anwar strives to deliver high quality care to all his patients. He will discuss with you how your condition is best managed and what your different treatment options are. His regular practice includes medical management, advanced endovascular surgery (minimally invasive techniques) and complex open surgeries. Anwar treats both public and private patients, and he is a no gap provider for all inpatient services. At present he can see most new patient referrals within a few weeks.

Mr Alexander Rolls - Vascular surgeon at VASC

Mr Alexander Rolls - Consultant Vascular Surgeon

MBBS PhD FRCS FRACS

Mr Rolls is a dual-trained (UK and Australia) vascular surgeon with a broad range of open and endovascular skills, having trained on the highly competitive London vascular training program at internationally recognised centres of expertise, including St.Mary's, St.George's and Royal Free Hospitals. He completed a further three-year fellowship in advanced endovascular therapies at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, where he currently holds a public appointment. 

Mr Rolls’ main clinical interests are fenestrated and branched treatment of complex aortic aneurysms, distal lower limb revascularisation and the treatment of acute and chronic deep venous pathologies. However, outside of these areas of focus, his scope of practice includes the full range of vascular procedures including open aortic repair, carotid surgery, lower limb bypass surgery and both open and endovenous therapy for varicose veins and pelvic venous insufficiency. 

Alex has an extensive research portfolio focused on the evaluation of novel endovascular techniques, the foundation of which was a doctoral thesis, that focused on the evaluation of robotic endovascular (keyhole) technology. He prides himself on the safe and evidence-based adoption of the latest endovascular techniques, as well as meticulous attention to detail with pre-operative planning and surgical technique.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys his free time with his wife and two children and his lifelong sporting interests remain rugby union, road cycling and running.
